CNC Router

Recent Project!

Coastdesign CNC has completed the mould frames for a 20m catamaran.  The frames consisted of 106 sheets of 18mm MDF complete with marking (engraving) and perimeter cuts with holding bridges.

Coastdesign has recently commissioned the Far North's only 3D CNC router facility, conveniently located at Opua Industrial Estate and capable of machining patterns, moulds,  models and profiles in MDF, wood, plastics, composites or foam, in fact any non-metallic material.  The router will handle full sheets of material (2440mm x 1220mm) and up to 250mm thick depending on the shape (longer lengths may also be accommodated).

The ability to cut materials in this way has many practical applications across a range of industries and hobbies.  Projects completed to date include cutting mould frames for a 20m catamaran, moulds for a keel and plugs for the lead keel bulb, kitchen and furniture components, stair profiles, pattern for a cast plaque, sign engraving and GRP moulds for model aircraft components.

Coastdesign also offers 3D modelling and CNC programming services or will accept component drawings in most CAD formats for the cutting of parts.  We offer quick turn-around of both one-off and production quantities.

For cost-effective accurate CNC machining, please give us a call to discuss your project.
